The Londonderry School District has a policy of 20 minutes per night of homework for second graders.

For my second graders, the homework is about responsibility and accountability. In my classroom, I give homework packets that are sent home on Fridays and are expected back on the following Friday (unless otherwise indicated). Generally assignments are a review of what has been taught in class.

Sometimes a special project may be assigned, but instructions will always be sent home. I do ask that parents review packets weekly, and if you notice mistakes, it is fine to gently point them out to your child and have them re-check their work. I have been using homework packets for several years now, and have found that families find that they work well with their busy life styles.

If your child has a busy week ahead, they are able to get a jump on their work over the weekend. It allows the family a little more flexibility. If you notice an ongoing problem area, please do let me know, so I can address it and help your child. *Reading (or being read to), and math fact practice are expected a minimum of two to three times per week.

If you find there is a problem with homework, please let me know right away so I can address it with you and / or your child.  Thank you in advance!
