to the web page of Karen Coney. I am one of the reading specialists at North School. Literacy is essential to becoming lifelong learners, and our children should be excited about reading. My job is to work with children in grades 1-5, providing additional reading services to develop, remediate, and enhance their reading skills. In addition, I reinforce and support the reading skills and strategies taught in the classroom.
Reading is essential in all areas of our school's curriculum. To be a successful student, a child needs to have good reading skills. The more a child reads at school and at home, the better those skills become. Thus, the goal of North School's reading department is to enhance our student's reading and writing ability in both fiction and non-fiction areas. As parents, you play an important role, and have such a positive impact on the success of your children in all areas
of the curriculum.
